KINSHASA, DR Congo — The stage is set, the rings are being prepped, and the continent’s finest fighters are packing their gloves.
Seven nations have officially confirmed their participation in the Africa Elite Men’s and Women’s Boxing Championships, lighting up Kinshasa from October 18–31, 2026.
The lineup was unveiled today by Pierre Ambongi, the Deputy Secretary-General of the Congolese Boxing Federation.
“Right now, the battle lines are drawn. Hosts DR Congo, Congo Brazzaville, Cameroon, and Gabon are landing on our capital city with massive delegations of 20 people,” Ambongi told boxersworld.co.ke.
“Zambia, Angola, and Comoros are also locked in and ready for this highly anticipated championships.”
Ambongi revealed that a tidal wave of entries is expected over the next three weeks, with defending champions Morocco also expected to join the fray to make history as the first African country to win the overall title for three years in a row.
With continental pride on the line, IBA Africa President Ferdinand Ilunga Luyoyo issued a rallying cry to every corner of the continent, urging all federations to throw their hats into the ring for Africa’s ultimate flagship boxing spectacle.
“This championship is about more than just medals; it is a fierce demonstration of our African boxing solidarity and unbreakable unity,” Luyoyo declared.
Luyoyo went on: “We must give our boxers the international spotlight they deserve. It is a disservice to deny world-class boxers this kind of life-changing exposure over petty, flimsy politics. This is their moment to clash not only inside the ropes, but build lifelong friendships outside the ring. Sport is the ultimate unifier.”
Adding massive fuel to the fire is the prize money pool, ensuring that every hook, jab, and knockout comes with a heavy payout. In this modern era of sports monetization, Africa’s elite boxers aren’t just fighting for glory and medals — they are fighting for fortune.
Kinshasa is calling. Who will rule the continent?
One Africa, One Ring.
