Accra, Ghana – Kweku Hagan, a Ghanaian based in the United Kingdom, in collaboration with Wisdom Boxing Gym, former IBF Bantamweight World Champion Joseph Agbeko, and other valued partners, is launching a groundbreaking Youth Mentorship Program designed to inspire, educate, and empower young people through mentorship and sport.
The program will bring together 18 participants, aged 12 to 18, including both young boxers and non-boxers. By creating opportunities for interaction between participants from different backgrounds, the initiative aims to promote leadership, discipline, confidence, and personal growth while demonstrating the positive impact of sport on community development.
Throughout the program, participants will take part in engaging sessions on career planning, boxing fundamentals, personal development, and the history and evolution of boxing in Ghana. These activities are intended to equip young people with practical life skills while deepening their appreciation for Ghana’s rich boxing heritage.
One of the highlights of the program will be an exclusive training session and mentorship opportunity with former world champion Joseph Agbeko, who will share his experiences, inspire participants, and provide valuable guidance drawn from his successful boxing career.
Hosted at Wisdom Boxing Gym, the initiative reflects the shared commitment of all partners to using boxing as a platform for education, mentorship, and youth development.
Together, they believe that nurturing both the mind and body creates not only better athletes but also responsible leaders and active citizens.
Speaking about the initiative, Kweku Hagan said: “This program is about creating opportunities for young people to learn, grow, and build meaningful relationships through sport and mentorship. By bringing together boxers and non-boxers, we hope to encourage mutual learning, inspire ambition, and help participants develop skills that will benefit them throughout their lives. My vision is for this initiative to become an annual program that continues to expand and positively impact more young people across Ghana.”
At the conclusion of the program, every participant will receive boxing equipment and a training kit to support their continued involvement in the sport and encourage healthy, active lifestyles.
The Youth Mentorship Program represents a significant investment in Ghana’s next generation and demonstrates the power of collaboration between individuals, sporting organizations, champions, and community partners in creating lasting opportunities for young people.
