South African boxing star Simangele “Smash” Hadebe will challenge compatriot Owethu Rula for the vacant World Boxing Federation Flyweight Championship on August 22, 2026 St GrandWest Casino, Cape Town, headlining the Fight Like a Woman – Battle at the Island event.
Hadebe has earned her place on the world stage through dedication, discipline, and consistent performances inside the ring. A former South African champion, ABU champion, and WBO Africa champion, she now takes on the biggest challenge of her professional career as she competes for a world title.
Adding to an already remarkable year, Hadebe has also been named a 2026 GSport Awards finalist in the Woman in Africa category, recognition of her achievements both inside and outside the ring.
