Excitement is reaching a fever pitch across the global boxing community as Istanbul prepares to host a landmark week for the sport from December 3–6, 2026.
Combining high-stakes governance, elite athletic competition, and strategic innovation, the four-day event will see the International Boxing Association (IBA) chart an ambitious new course for the sport’s future.
At the heart of the action is the highly anticipated launch of the inaugural IBA President’s Cup. This event marks the official debut of the IBA ELITE Project—a visionary initiative designed to bridge the gap between amateur and professional boxing by providing a clear, structured pathway for rising athletes.
With National Federations registering in surging numbers daily, the tournament promises to give the world’s emerging talent a thrilling new international stage.
Running alongside the action inside the ring, Istanbul will also welcome delegates from around the globe for the IBA Congress 2026.
A major highlight of the gathering will be the highly regarded Global Boxing Forum, where industry leaders, stakeholders, and partners will collaborate on innovative projects and strategic developments to modernise the sport.
The stakes will be equally high outside the ring. On December 5, 2026, the IBA Ordinary Election Congress will take place, allowing National Federations to participate in a vital democratic process to elect new members to the Board of Directors and guide the organisation’s next chapter.
IBA Secretary General and CEO, Chris Roberts OBE, expressed his enthusiasm for the overwhelming global response:
“It is fantastic to see our National Federations registering in growing numbers for what promises to be a truly outstanding event. This is a crucial year for the IBA. The Elective Congress provides a powerful opportunity to welcome new voices to the Board of Directors and help shape our collective future. Istanbul will be a magnificent setting for delegates from across the world to come together and celebrate the continued growth of boxing.”
From historic governance decisions and cutting-edge industry forums to the explosive finals of the President’s Cup, Istanbul is where the future of boxing will take centre stage.
The countdown has officially begun, and the official Competition Handbook will be released to member federations in due course.
