DR Congo’s Patrick “The Panther” Mukala returns to the ring on December 6 in Dubai to take on Namibia’s unbeaten Paulinus “Jon Jon” Ndjolonimu for the IBA Africa middleweight title.
Mukala (19-2-1, 15 KOs)  is currently riding high following his impressive 10-round points victory over Ronald Ellis of the USA on September 28, 2024, at the Booysens Boxing Camp in Johannesburg, South Africa.
“I believe my victory over  Ellis was the turning point in my career proving that I’m more than able to compete internationally and against the best of the best,” Mukala told me in a telephone interview from Johannesburg.
“I tried my best to knock him out but it didn’t come so I concentrated on scoring more points than him,” said Mukala who is unshaken by Ndjolonimu’s 19-fight unbeaten run with 17 knockouts.
“Compared to other guys I’ve fought, he’s not the best I’ve faced, and technically he’s not at my level I’m far ahead of him,”said Mukala, born 30 years ago in Mbuji Mayi in DR Congo.
“He will know that I hit harder than him when we meet in Dubai, he’s not a threat to me in any way,” said Mukala who is delighted to fight in International Boxing Association (IBA) prestigious and popular Champions’ Night card.
“It’s very exciting to fight in IBA Champions Night show, it will further boost my image I’m.really looking forward to this big day.”
Ndjolonimu recently beat Ghana’s Abubakar Mubarak via a 9th round TKO to retain his WBO Africa super-middleweight title in Windhoek.
