Thousands of passionate fans surrounded the ring, creating an electric atmosphere that only boxing can produce. The roads, streets, and open spaces around the venue were filled with boxing lovers eager to witness the action.
While the boxers numbered in the hundreds, the fans came in their thousands—a true testament to the growing popularity of Boxing Federation of Kenya (BFK) Ndondi Mashinani Initiative or grassroots boxing if you like.
This remarkable event was made possible through the tireless efforts of coach Ragot, the head coach of Ngong Boxing Club. Coach Ragot continues to dedicate his time, energy, and resources to ensure that Ngong remains firmly on Kenya’s boxing map. His commitment to talent development and community empowerment through sport is helping shape the next generation of champions.
Special appreciation goes to the Boxing Federation of Kenya (BFK) for sanctioning the tournament and providing the platform for young athletes to showcase their skills. We also applaud Sheria Mtaani for their partnership and support in making this great boxing festival a reality.
The tournament brought together boxers from various clubs, including Jericho Boxing Club, Kiserian Boxing Club, Ngong Boxing Club, Sheria Boxing Club, and many others. Fighters traveled from different regions to compete, learn, and build friendships through sport.
Beyond the punches and victories, grassroots boxing provides young people with discipline, focus, mentorship, an5d hope. It keeps youth engaged in positive activities while creating pathways to county, national, continental, and international competitions.
The crowd witnessed not just boxing matches, but the future of Kenyan boxing. Among those young men and women in the ring are future national champions, African champions, Commonwealth medalists, and perhaps even Olympic medal contenders.
