DrZAMBIA TAKE ON RUSSIA

Zambia’s national team of eight boxers will meet Russia on Friday, November 6, at the Olympic Youth Development Centre of Zambia in Lusaka from 4pm.

The Secretary-General of Zambia Boxing Federation Bornwell Gift Banda said the international friendly will feature eight bouts and will be supported by two female special contests.

“The Russians are not coming with female boxers so we decided to give a chance to our upcoming women boxers to curtain raise our friendly match with Russia,” said Banda who also explained the significance of the Zambia vs Russia international friendly contest.

“The aim of our match against Russia is to celebrate 60 years of the Zambia/Russia friendship,” said Banda.

Among Zambia’s top boxers in the team are Paris Olympic Games quarter-finalist and African Games flyweight champion Patrick Chinyemba, 2022 Africa Championships lightweight gold medallist Andrew Chilata, Commonwealth Games silver medallist Stephen Zimba and African Games silver medallists, Emmanuel Katema and Mwengo Mwale.
